Prebuilt Modules

Studio Design Build

Prebuilt Walls

The prebuilt modular wall lining system is based around demountable units of a standard width of 600mm. The height dimension of the units relates to the height of space within which the studio is set. The thickness of the wall lining will depend upon the level of sound insulation required. Typical panel thickness range from 75mm to 300mm.

The prebuilt modular wall lining performs two important acoustic functions; sound insulation and sound absorption. The sound insulation provided by the wall units is determined by the sound insulation requirements of the facility. Typical sound insulation values range from DnT,w 45dB to DnT,w 60dB. The sound absorption of the panels again relates to the requirements of the facility. The target RT time for most studio facilities is between 0.2 – 0.4 second. The modular wall units can be tweaked by altering the modular build up or finish so as to provide bass absorption or diffusion.

The prebuilt modules can host sockets, lighting, speaker mount and plates etc and can be finished in a range of acoustically transparent fabrics. For more details on finishes go to the Interior Design section.

Floating Floors

Floating floors are often required in studios where very high levels of sound insulation/ room isolation are required. The nature of the floating floor build up will depend upon the target level of sound insulation. These floating floor structures will range from semi-resilient floors to fully isolated floating floors. The semi-resilient floors designed and used by iAcoustics in our prebuilt studios are installed onsite and by their nature are demountable. The typical height of the semi resilient floor varies from 50mm to 150mm. Fully isolated floating floors would involve a semi permanent install. The specific design is more complicated and the floor build height would range from 100mm to 250mm.

Floating Ceiling

Floating ceilings are often necessitated where high levels of sound insulation/ room isolation are required. The iAcoustics floating ceilings are semi permanent structures that can be demounted easily but some elements cannot be used for reinstallation elsewhere. The nature and build up of the floating ceiling will be determined by the level of sound insulation required. The typical ceiling void/ cavity depth varies from between 100mm to 200mm. Below the floating ceiling can be finished in a range of acoustic treatments from a fabric covered ceiling treatment to a tile and grid acoustic ceiling.
