The Process

Studio Design Build

The beauty of the prebuilt process is that all the design work is done off-site which means less time onsite. The prebuilt studio is delivered flat pack to your door and installed in an efficient manner by our installation team. So here’s how it works.

Initial Meeting

The first questions that we are generally asked by prospective clients are;
1. How much is it going to cost?
2. What is it going to look like?
3. How long is it going to take?

So as to get a handle on these questions we would propose an initial meeting to discuss your project and if possible undertake a survey of the space proposed for the studio. From here we can work on providing you with an budgetary quotation and some room visualisations so as to give you a feel for studio space.

Design Phase

The design phase begins with defining the acoustic specifications for the studio in terms of sound insulation, room acoustics, NR ratings. This will determine the prebuilt studio build up. A detailed site survey will be conducted to determine the room and module layout. The doors and window elements in the build will also be specified and designed into the modular structure. Also included in the design phase will be the detailing on the integration lighting, sockets, cable ducting and air conditioning. Finally logistics, site access, storage, fire and health and safety issues will be considered and plans implemented so as to ensure the efficient install process. The design phase and prebuilt manufacturing stage generally takes between 4 – 6 weeks.

Installation Onsite

The date and time for installation will be coordinated between iAcoustics and the client. The installation can be phased so as to minimise disturbance onsite. The efficiency of the install is paramount. The modules are coded and installed on the framinig system in a systematic pattern. Specific panels will be set to host fixings for lighting, sockets, plates and mounts. The modules will then be finished onsite using an acoustically transparent fabric which will be stretched taut providing an aesthetic finish. Skirting, sockets, lighting will then be installed to provide the finished studio finish.

Testing & Certification

Upon completion of the studio install iAcoustics will perform a complete series of acoustic tests to determine that all the stated acoustic specifications are met. Then a more indepth room acoustic analysis can be conducted once your equipment is installed in the room. This acoustic analysis ensures that the room and your equipment are working in tandem. Issues such as monitor set-up and alignment will be analysed and tweaked accordingly.
