The following is a sample of the studio projects that iAcoustics have been involved in.
International Broadcast Centre, Olympic Park
Background
The International Broadcast Centre will house the facilities for all 158 broadcasters attending the London 2012 Olympics. The fit out of the space involves the build of broadcasting facilities for the duration of the event.
Scope of Works
iAcoustics have been appointed by FCC Elliott UK as the acoustic design team consultants for the design and fit out of the International Broadcasting Centre. iAcoustics’ role as part of the design team is to;
- Provide an overview to the design & layout of facilities from an acoustic & broadcasting view point
- Specify the means of meeting the stated criteria regarding sound insulation & room acoustics
- Identify potential acoustic issues and outline means of resolving them
- Conduct regular site inpections/ site support during fit out
- Undertake testing to ensure acoustic parameters are adhered to
RTE
Background
RTE is the public service broadcaster of Ireland and broadcasts through the media of television, radio and online. It has facilities throughout the island of Ireland.
Scope of Work
iAcoustics have successfully completed projects at a number of RTE facilities throughout the country. On the main campus at Donnybrook, iAcoustics have completed acoustic treatment works in Studio 1 and Studio 7 at the Radio Centre, as well as at Sound Stage 1 at the Television Centre. We have also completed the acoustic design and fit out of two regional studios at RTE Radio na Gaeltachta, Galway.
TV3
Background
TV3 is a commercial free-to-air broadcaster with their main broadcasting and postproduction facilities at Ballymount, Dublin.
Scope of Work
In 2008 iAcoustics completed the acoustic design and fit out of a post production suite, including a VO booth. The room acousticsin the post production suite had been identified as critical to the success of the new facility. iAcoustics were approached to deliver a solution that could be integrated in such a way that it wouldn’t disturb other activities ongoing in the station and that was quick to install. The acoustic fit-out of the postproduction suite was completed in an efficientmanner to the satisfaction of both thetechnical and operations staff.
Setanta Sports
Background
Setanta Sports is a sports broadcasting channel based in Dublin, Ireland. Their head office hosts their on air and post production facilities.
Scope of Work
iAcoustics have successfully completed two projects for Setanta Sports at their head offices in Dublin. The first project involved the
acoustic treatment of the main tv broadcast studio. The room acoustic conditions within the studio was a source of problems affecting live and recorded programs. iAcoustics were subsequently engaged to assess andimplement an effective solution which could be installed in a short time frame.
The second project involved the fit out of a post production suite.
Both projects were successfully completed in a short time frame to the satisfaction of the client.
Yellowmoon Post Production
Background
Yellowmoon is a Northern Ireland based post production house, which specialises in video and audio post production. It is one of the premier post produciton facilities in Northern Ireland and has a strong reputatiuon with clients both in Ireland and the UK.
Scope of Work
In 2009 iAcoustics began work on an audio dubbing facility for Yellowmoon. The brief from the client was to design and build an audio dubbing facility to Dolby trailer and commercials specifications. The facility was successfully completed and now includes an audio dubbing control room, with a client area, and a VO booth.
Avatar Post Production
Background
Avatar Post Production is a Dublin based audio post production house.
Scope of Work
In 2008 iAcoustics coordinated the design and build of Avatar’s new post production facility. The facility includes a main dubbing/ mixing room plus two VO booths. The client’s brief was to create a comfortable space, which incorporated some of the architectural features of the premises, whilst adhering to the relevant acoustic specifications. The project wassuccessfully completed in an efficient andprofessional manner.
Dun Laoghaire College (DLCFE)
Background
Dun Laoghaire College of Further Education is a Dublin based educational institution. The college provides courses in the area of digital film production, sound engineering and audio visual media production.
Scope of Work
iAcoustics have completed a series of projects at Dun Laoghaire Further College of Education. Past projects include the design and build of a music studio suite, comprising a control room and two live rooms. In 2010 iAcoustics won the public tender to design and build a radio studio for the college.
University of Limerick (UL)
Background
University of Limerick is one of Ireland’s foremost third level institutions & is renowned as a centre of excellence for music.
Scope of Work
iAcoustics have successfully tendered for and completed a series of projects for the Department of Music at UL. Projects includes the design & build of a suite of studios which incorporated two control rooms and three live rooms. The works were completed over two phases.
